Basically, the album is a lot heavier than DOD - its definately METAL as opposed to rock. Its probably less instantly catchy and requires more thought, but in my humble opinion it's far better!!!
The album is very progressive, or at least the 4 tracks I heard were (Different Worlds, These Colours Dont Run, Brighter Than A Thousand Suns and The Pilgrim) - there's lots of time changes and atmospheric keyboards and stuff. The Pilgrim sounds quite mediaeval/eastern, kind of like Nomad from BNW but heavier.
And for people like me who are huge steve fans, dont worry, he seems to have rediscovered the art of the complex bass line - it sounds fucking amazing!!!
I actually dont remember how Different Worlds Went, or These Colours Dont Run (except one line of the chorus), but I can remember quite a bit about the other 2.
The production sounded a bit better (I know what I mean, boosted bass frequencies and stuff) and the guitars were definately heavier. As for whether or not they might be drop tuned, its funny you should mention that, because that's what I thought at the time. It's not a St Anger by Metallica though, they haven't sold out or anything - its still maiden through and through.
No, it sounds nothing like the X factor.
All of the tracks I heard were pretty fast as far as I can remember. You have to bear in mind I was pretty overwhelmed at the time, and my memory isnt very clear!!!
I cant really remember Different Worlds, but the vocals on all tracks sounded amazing - better than DOD I thought, more powerful. Some of the vocals on DOD got a bit nasal at points.
Wróć do „A Matter Of Life And Death”
