Za Stjepanem Jurasem, managerem i wydawcą Paula:
"On behalf of his family, I am very sad to confirm the death of Paul Andrews, professionally known as Paul Di'Anno.
Paul passed away at his home in Salisbury at the age of 66.
Born in Chingford, East London on 17th May 1958, Paul first came to prominence as lead singer of English Heavy Metal band, Iron Maiden between 1978 and 1981. He sang on their groundbreaking debut album Iron Maiden, and the influential follow up release, Killers.
Since leaving Iron Maiden, Paul Di'Anno had a long and eventful recording career with Battlezone and Killers as well as numerous solo releases and guest appearances.
Despite being troubled by severe health issues in recent years that restricted him to performing in a wheelchair, Paul continued to entertain his fans around the world, racking up well over 100 shows since 2023.
His first career retrospective album, The Book of the Beast was released in September 2024 and featured highlights of his recordings since leaving Iron Maiden.
I was so proud to call him my fiend and I ask his legion of fans to raise a glass in his memory".

R.I.P the Beast!

I just came home. so I’d like to show you some things, so you can get an idea of Paul and his modus operandi. This is the status he wrote on Facebook an hour ago. That’s not the message he sent to me (Stjepan, could you please buy or order this, I’ll pay you). He didn’t say that to either of the 2 physiotherapists, or to any of the nurses who care for him, or to Max, his friend member of the crew I hired to take care of him. He put it on the internet, secretly expecting someone to feel sorry for him and bring it for free. In the beginning, I was the ‘fool’, but now I ignore posts like this. He has enough money of his own to buy it for himself, or to have someone go to a nearby shopping center and buy it for him. He can ask someone privately. But no… he has to post it on Facebook for everyone to see. I don’t like that approach, and if I object, I get a barrage of public insults from him. Not good for manager to talk about him like that, but only on that way he will
And now the most important thing. Considering that my plan was to come to Croatia already in February, right after the South American tour (and that didn’t happen), I have to clarify a few things. If Paul had come, as planned, in the middle of February, he would have already been in Croatia for over 5 months, which according to all the recommendations of the surgeon who operated on him and all the therapists who worked with him, is enough that, in addition to his daily work, gets on his feet and walks with the help of a cane or crutches.
However, Paul delayed his arrival more and more every day and in the end he did not come until the first half of June, which is too little to do anything smart. Admittedly, the progress is enormous, because after three and a half months in Salisbury, he came to Croatia in such a disastrous state that no one could really believe how much he had neglected himself. In this month and 2 weeks, almost all open wounds have healed, his leg has lost at least half of the size he came to Croatia with, he managed to put shoes back on his foot, stand up, and do squats. The progress is huge and if he were to continue this now (after the mini-tour in August) later in September and October, it is possible that he would be able to walk with stick or crutches.
However, he told me today in the chat that he is disappointed, because he thought that in this month and two weeks of his stay in Croatia, he would walk again. None of us (doctors, nurses, therapists, carers and me) believed for a second that this would happen, because these are unrealistic expectations. It’s just a fantasy. However, Paul also wrote that on his Facebook in such a way that it seems that he was treated badly and that we are all to blame for it, and the people who worked with him worked three times more than they had to, they cleaned for with him his shit, but they don’t have to, wiped the pus from his leg on the bathroom tiles, but they don’t have to, went shopping for him, but they don’t have to, and many, many other things. They are real heroes and each of them will write their views and observations for the second part of my book.
And finally… taking a sample of blood from the wound on his leg (swab) revealed MRSA and another potentially life-threatening bacteria (which he admittedly had earlier), fortunately, not in large quantities. When we persuaded him to go to the hospital for a more detailed preventive examination in order to in case it was dangerous, he was given an intravenous antibiotic, guess what he did… He refused and said he didn’t want to, and if we forced him to go to the hospital, he would rather get on a plane and fly home. Well, that’s what he said… So, yes, if at some point Paul dies of MRSA or something like that, let what I wrote be recorded here. I don’t want to mess with such things anymore.
That’s why I said… ‘ok, we’ll do a tour in between until next summer, I’ll raise enough money for your treatment for at least the next 5 years. It’s up to you how you spend it and what you spend it on, but I’m giving it to you with the hope that you’ll spend it on your health. If you don’t show great progress, from the fall onward in 2025, I won’t book any more shows and whoever else wants to, let them do it, but I won’t.’
That’s the situation. Managers maybe shouldn’t write this, but this is the cry of the desperate, because I really don’t know what else to do.
Podczas pobytu w Chorwacji i rehabilitacji
Paul don’t needs any operation anymore. Paul just needs everyday physio treatments etc. This is not expensive TBH, more expensive is accommodation, because he don’t want to be in care homes, he required 5 star hotel Westin to stay in Zagreb. He went to care home only after he is kicked from hotel after few weeks… He can be treated very well in UK and this is not expensive, but any time I left his at his home, he has 1 visit of nurse weekly, he mostly sleeps in wheelchair, not at his bed and he is doing nothing for his health. Someone definitely need to be with him all the time, he is not capable to live alon at his home.
As I wrote in the book. I am not a doctor or any professional. I have my own observations and opinions, and with regard to patterns of behavior, I have a picture in my head of what it is all about. However, I am neither an expert to give diagnoses, nor am I authorized to present them publicly. What Paul has been saying publicly for years is that he suffers from depression, PSTD and that every day is extremely stressful for him. He used to mention borderline in public here and there, but in fact he rarely and mostly talks about the first three things I mentioned. Both I and the other doctors (including a psychiatrist) formed an opinion on what was going on and what kind of help Paul needed, but he mostly refused it because of, as he says, the language barrier, even though there are many psychiatrists there who speak fluent English. Only once, 2 months ago, he asked me to find him someone who spoke English, with whom he could go to medical hypnosis, and I found such a person, very professional, but in the end he did not go.
