Wypowiedzi Zakk'a Wylde'a i Sharon na temat incydentu. Co za stek bzdur zwłaszcza, że wmawiają Bruce'owi rzeczy, których nigdy nie mówił! Jedyne co prawda to gadanie na MTV, system sprzedaży biletów w USA i reality shows. To zresztą żadna nowość, bo Bruce mówił takie rzeczy od lat!

Jeśli chodzi o 55 minutowy set to Sharon złośliwie kazała Maiden skrócić gig w San Bernardino (najważniejszy koncert na trasie) z 60 do 55 minut, bo na głównej scenie występował też Slipknot (tylko na tym koncercie). Oczywiście zespół się na to nie zgodził zwłaszcza, że mieli zakontraktowany godzinny set. Była to zwykła złośliwość ze strony Osbourne'ów.

Widać, że Sharon coraz bardziej pogrąża się w tym bagnie... Zamiast zachować resztkę honoru i przeprosić Maiden za tak skandaliczne zachowanie to nadal uparcie broni swoich "słusznych" racji... Żałosne...

Zakk Wylde: "This is fact and this is reality. It's not the guys in MAIDEN and their crew. They're a beautiful bunch of guys. Bruce Dickinson every night would be saying 'Ozzy sucks,' 'Ozzfest blows,' 'Corporate America sucks,' 'America sucks,' and all this other crap. He was bagging on America and bagging on Ozz. If you got signed by George Steinbrenner to play for the Yankees and every day you say, 'Steinbrenner sucks,' 'Yankee Stadium blows,' 'I can't stand playing for this team — it sucks ass,' then why are you playing for the Yankees? Shut your fuckin' pie hole. All he had to do was go up there, play for an hour, whoop some ass and go home. The only thing Ozzy's ever done was given MAIDEN a stage to come over and play to the biggest audience in the summer. Ozzy would give you the shirt off his back. He'd never do a bad thing to anybody. Sharon didn't like him talking about her husband like that and talking about Ozzfest like that. It's just not kosher. The bottom line is Bruce was being a wad! You act like a cunt, you get treated like a cunt! That's what happened. He's definitely not one of the guys. Everybody in their band and crew are cool. SHARON OSBOURNE Issues 'Open Letter' To IRON MAIDEN's Manager - Aug. 25, 2005:

Sharon Osbourne has issued the following "open letter" to IRON MAIDEN manager Rod Smallwood:

"Rod,

"I found your statement to be completely void of the facts that led up to Saturday's show. Your press release was written like an old-time '80s manager, trying to use every opportunity to try and sell the record and the upcoming shows instead of just dealing with the truth.

"These are the facts:

"You claim to have been in the business for 30 years and have been to hundreds of gigs, but can you tell me how many times you have heard of an opening band talking sh*t about the headliner during their set and getting away with it? Not only is Ozzy the headliner, but he is also the man who is paying your band $185,000 a night. We gave IRON MAIDEN a chance to play to the biggest audiences they have ever played to in the U.S.A. We accommodated them with their stage set and at the band's request we even scoured the audience for people wearing IRON MAIDEN t-shirts and brought them down front during their set to make them feel more comfortable. Tell me, what other headliner would do that? Unfortunately those gestures were completely lost on Bruce Dickinson who for over 20 shows continually berated Ozzy and Ozzfest during his set.

"Over the last 10 years of Ozzfest, we have worked with over 200 bands. None of them were ever disrespectful to Ozzy or any of the other bands on the tour. But for 20 shows we were forced to hear Dickinson's nightly outbursts from the stage: 'When we come back to America, we'll be back with a proper sound system,' or "We won't be playing the same old songs every night (like SABBATH),' 'We don't need a teleprompter (like Ozzy)' and 'We don't need a reality show to be legit (again, like Ozzy).' Night after night we heard his complaints from the stage about how 'corporate' the venues were and how 'outrageous' the ticket prices were. Strangely enough, if you want to get a general admission ticket to stand in a field to see IRON MAIDEN at Reading this weekend it's going to cost you over $120. I would say that's very pricey, wouldn't you?

"When an artist comes on stage and says he's not playing the 55 minutes that he was allotted and that he is going to play for as long as he wants (cutting into SABBATH's set), I'm not going to let that happen. Dickinson was under the delusion that the 46,000 people in San Bernardino had come only to see IRON MAIDEN. He even proclaimed 'This is not the Ozzfest, This is Maidenfest.' I guess no one told him that we have an audience of 45,000 to 53,000 people every year in San Bernardino.

"Here's another fact for you. Bruce Dickinson's own band was embarrassed by him. IRON MAIDEN leader, Steve Harris, even came to Ozzy's dressing room to apologize to Ozzy for Bruce's behavior before MAIDEN took the stage in San Bernardino.

"It's shameful that Dickinson felt he had the right to air his issues publicly onstage every night as a way to boost his own ego. Dickinson never once came up to Ozzy and me to voice any concerns. He certainly had the opportunity to do so every night. If he wasn't able to show us that courtesy then why should I give him the respect to air my grievances with him in private? Ozzy's only interaction with Dickinson was on the first night of the tour. Ozzy, being the true gentleman that he is, passed Bruce in the hall and said 'Good luck and have a great show.' Unfortunately Dickinson felt the need to turn his back to Ozzy and walked away. Frankly, Dickinson got what he deserved. We had to listen to his bullsh*t for five straight weeks. He only had to suffer a couple of eggs on the head.

"On closing, yes, I did cut IRON MAIDEN's sound. This is the way I look at it: Ozzfest is our tour. We built it into something that's lasted 10 years now. We've been responsible for breaking many new bands and resurrecting the careers of former superstars. Part of our success stems from the fact that when a band is on Ozzfest we treat them with nothing but kindness and respect just as if we had invited them into our home. You can ask all of the bands who have been on the tour. They all describe it as the 'ultimate summer camp.' It's like one big family. Unfortunately Dickinson doesn't have the manners to realize that when you are invited into someone's home, are seated at their dinner table, are eating their food and drinking their wine, you shouldn't talk disrespectfully about them (Ozzy, BLACK SABBATH and Ozzfest), otherwise you just might get your ass handed to you. Every action has a reaction. Was Dickinson so naïve to think that I was going to let him get away with talking sh*t about my family night after night? I don't think he realizes who he's dealing with. I will not endure behavior like this from anyone.

Jeżeli mówi Zakk, moim zdaniem nie są to już całkiem bzdury... Fakt, nie słyszałem, żeby Dickinson mówił "America sucks" lub coś w tym stylu, ale to bardzo prawdopodobne (powiedziałbym nawet, że to w jego stylu...). Zakk mówi to co każe mu Sharon/Ozzy. To oczywiste.
Byłem na 2 Ozzfestach i słyszałem relacje znajomych z innych koncertów. Bruce nigdy nie obraził Ozzy'ego czy Ameryki. Często natomiast narzekał na ceny biletów i fakt, że pod sceną znajdują się tylko osoby mające różne "układy", nie prawdziwi fani. Krytykował też MTV i reality shows. Nigdy nie powiedział złego słowa na Ozzy'ego czy Sabbath, których przecież lubi. Nie wiem czemu Sharon tak uparcie kłamie i wymyśla takie bzdury!

Posłuchaj najpierw choćby bootlegu z tego koncertu, a potem się wypowiadaj.
Bruce i Maiden zachowali się z niesłychaną klasą. Sharon wyszła na skończoną chamkę co jest oczywiste i jest teraz szeroko komentowane na rynku muzycznym (tak jak ktoś już mówił - o tym wydarzeniu będzie głośno przez lata).

Co do hasła "Maidenfest" to Bruce dopiero pod koniec występu w San Bernardino w czasie "Iron Maiden" krzyknął do publiczności "Scream for me fuckin' Maidenfest!" co zresztą wszystkim bardzo się spodobało, bo publika była zniesmaczona chamskim zachowaniem ekipy Ozzfestu.

Co do skrócenia setu to było to bezprawne i złośliwe działanie Sharon. Maideni mieli zakontraktowany 60 minutowy występ, ale pani Osbourne stwierdziła, że ze względu na obecność Slipknota na głównej scenie w San Bernardino skróci set Maiden o 5 minut. Oczywiście zespół na to nie poszedł. Po pierwsze nie musieli wcale skracać setu, bo koncert i tak skończyłby się przed ciszą nocną, a po drugie jeśli już to Black Sabbath mogliby grać krócej, bo to oni są gwiazdą Ozzfestu i to poniekąd Ozzy, a raczej jego żona zaprosili Slipknota licząc się z konsekwencjami mn. czasowymi.

Wątpię, by Maideni oddali sprawę do sądu, bo Bruce ma dużo ważniejszych spraw na głowie i na pewno ostatnią rzeczą jakiej by pragnął byłoby latanie do USA na rozprawy.

So what happened when you went on stage at Ozzfest?

We were hit by a co-ordinated barrage of bottle tops, lighters and eggs from a certain section at the front! Then the power for the PA and backline was completely pulled three or four times during songs.
The band held it all together incredibly though and we just got really pumped up.
It ended up being an amazing show. Maiden can pretty much deal with anything. We don’t get fazed too easily.

Who do you think was behind it all?

Everyone knows it's Sharon Osbourne. It's certainly not Ozzy or Sabbath - they have too much class to condone stunts like that.
She hates me for making remarks about reality TV. I hate reality TV.
People should get off their arses and do stuff and not be so voyeuristic.

Her stunts seemed to backfire as you played a magnificent set and soon after, thousands walked out in disgust?

We left for the airport pretty well straight after we came off but we could tell there were a lot of disgusted fans who had paid good money to see us.
The audience was incredibly behind us all the way and they really lifted us.
If they hadn't been happy, there may have been a riot as those fans were really disgusted with the cowardly attacks.

This comes from someone I know who is friends with Nicko, hung out with all of Maiden this past weekend (including the Hollywood Rock Walk induction, which he said went awesome was the stuff of LEGENDS), and also saw the recent fiasco in California from the side of the stage. He found out:

- The goon squad Sharon planted in the crowd to throw eggs at the band was a little geographically isolated from the rest of the crowd, and was even being "guarded" by Ozzfest security around them. This comes as no surprise.

- Sharon did in fact approach other bands on Ozzfest to get in on the Maiden sabotage, but they didn't go for it out of respect for Maiden.

- Sharon didn't like the fact that Maiden's performances on the tour crushed Sabbath's performances, and got an awesome reaction night after night from the crowds, one that far surpassed the reaction Sabbath got on the tour. This was partial motivation for Sharon's sabotage of Maiden. Apparently, the bitch isn't only dishonest, hypocritical, unprofessional, greedy, manipulative, devoid of character, and a small person over all; she's jealous, too.

- Sharon has overblown Bruce's comments about Ozzy, which Bruce says he's made only in jest, although he still sticks to his comment about Ozzy's reality show/pop culture diva status being totally lame and unmetal.

- Bruce and Steve do NOT dislike America as a nation; they hate how concerts are run here, with too much security all over the fans, reserved seating in big venues, etc..

- Bruce told him right after the Rock Walk induction that in his now-controversial comment about lame, uninspired spectators in the front rows at Maiden shows in the U.S., he was actually commenting on music industry people who get hooked up with great tickets and go to the shows, not as actual Maiden fans, but as just casual spectators who wanted to see a live band they got great seats for via their industry connections (which we all know happens all the time). Bruce feels those are seats that actual hardcore Maiden fans could/should be enjoying instead.

- As a side note, this person also found out that Ozzy and the rest of Sabbath actually DOES want to make a new album together, but Sharon isn't letting Ozzy do it because that would mean having to give up more money to the other Sabs. Instead, she wants Ozzy to do a new solo album, which won't cut into his profit$ as much since he'll be paying his backup band a lot less money.
