Sytuacja podobna jak z 1977, który był słabszy niż 1976 i 1978. Tak ten rok wyraźnie ustępuje 1978 i 1980. Motorhead tu przede wszystkim się zasłużył ze swoimi dwoma flagowymi albumami, potem też trzeba wyróźnić AC/DC i Thin Lizzy, choć nie uważam Highway to Hell i Black Rose za swoją prywatną czołówkę w rankingu płyt tych zespołów no i dochodzi jeszcze mocny album Scorpionsów. W sumie te pięć albumów wyraźnie powyżej reszty.
